Little Steps Nursery

Unlocking Curiosity

Home: Welcome

About Us

From the Beginning

Little Steps Nursery is a nurturing Early Years setting providing home-away-from-home, high-quality childcare for children ages three months old to 5 years. The nursery is based in Rochdale.

Our aim is to provide a friendly, caring and homely atmosphere where children develop social skills and independence with peers and adults.

Our nursery is designed to cater for the individual development of each child in an environment that is calm, happy and safe.

We pride ourselves on providing a service to enable parents to work and live their daily lives knowing their children are cherished and cared for.

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage, our team of expert nursery practitioners focus on each child as an individual using our online “connect” system to document children’s learning through social and emotional skills, physical achievements and our environment.

At Little Steps we aim to:
Give each child their own individual voice, listening to their interests, experiences and ideas about the world.

Using these individual ideas to create a personalised and creative journey of learning and development together.
Provide a happy, safe, warm and stimulating environment through a holistic approach for all children to play, learn and develop freely.
Help children to develop responsibility for themselves and their actions and to become competent, confident, resilient, independent and co-operative individuals.
Encourage children to have a positive attitude and respect themselves and other people.
Promote a positive relationship with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals and work in partnership with them to provide high-quality teaching and learning, and care for their children.
Provide a professional team that is experienced, enthusiastic and committed, well trained, and well supported.
Promote enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and confidence to celebrate achievements, persevere through challenge and learn together.
To share a love for reading and language – sharing stories and songs every day.
Provide a curriculum that embraces social, physical, moral and intellectual development giving children all the experiences that will support their School Readiness, British Values and Cultural Capital.

"The management team is committed and leads by example. They work closely with
staff and provide targeted support to help them to improve their teaching skills and
extend their professional knowledge.
The setting is bright, clean and very well resourced. Children are happy, settled and
display high levels of self-confidence and self-esteem.
Partnerships with parents and other professionals involved in children's learning and
care are firmly established. Staff share a wealth of information and this joined-up
approach means that children are supported to make continually good progress.
Clear self-evaluation is in place and used well to highlight and address minor
weaknesses in practice. The manager listens to the views of parents, children and staff.
This means she is able to make meaningful changes that benefit them the most.

Children are supported to lead a healthy lifestyle. They have access to a well-resourced
outdoor area and are provided with healthy and nutritionally balanced meals and
snacks."
